Savage stripped thread,!! gggrrrrrrrr

Hello guy's, glow plug on my sav' 25 blew, went to take glug out and it just kept turning and would not come out.
Took head off, only to find it had stripped it's thread in the alloy underhead which houses the plug, i have never over tightned the plug can't understand why it has done this, and i've never cross threaded at all, has anybody else had this problem, and does any one know how much a new one will cost

thanks for reading all this, any replies would be welcome....ian

I've never known that to happen without cross threading or overtightening the glow plug, maybe the thread was faulty from the factory, its hard to say.

You can buy standard engine heads for about £10-£15, maybe less if you shop around. Or you could buy an aftermarket head like the Nova of which I have which looks bling and also keeps your engine cooler! these are more expensive though.

EDIT: Also make sure you clean any metal debris from your engine before you run it.

Yea I forgot that engine used those, saves replacing the whole head! The underheads are quite expensive though for what you get, you can get a whole head for that price.

I dont think its the part thats the problem, ive had mine for over a year now and never even had a sign of it, As long as you make sure your careful with putting the plug in and so its nice and straight you should be ok.

This is not a problem with any of the savages it BECOMES A PROBLEM if you either overtighten glow plug or put it in crossthreaded.

People have tendincies to over tighten the glow plugs not realizing that when engine gets warm it tightens it self anyway as long as it is screwed in firm thats all you need
